Program Description*:
Native Americans and the pioneers gathered edible plants for their survival. With the impact of grocery and convenient stores, our society has disconnected food from its natural beginnings. Marissa Oppel, one of BRIT’s experts delivers a program that makes that connection for your students with emphasis on plant chemistry and botany
Interaction:
Three prearranged sites are challenged to make a presentation showing how a single species is used from three points of view. One school will demonstrate how the Native Americans used the plant, one the pioneers and one demonstrate modern day use. Creativity and application of multimedia is encouraged. BRIT will be available as a resource prior to the broadcast.
